Here’s some eye candy to start things off with:

This little gem is Cicindela abdominalis – one of the easiest species of Cicindela to photograph. Incredibly tolerant of my shadow and as long as I moved slowly, it was happy to remain still or dart to a patch of sunlight instead of flying. This individual was found on a sandy trail in Maryland along with a veritable swarm of Cicindela pucntulata (they looked huge compared to these little guys).
